El conflicto libio ha causado desde el 15 de febrero entre 10.000 y 15.000 muertos, según la ONU, y obligado a huir a unas 952.000 personas, según la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones.
Mientras, los combates se intensifican entre las fuerzas gubernamentales y las insurgentes. Los rebeldes trataron de tomar las instalaciones petroleras de Brega, a 240 km al oeste de Bengasi, y en las montañas del suroeste se esfuerzan por vencer la resistencia de las fuerzas favorables a Gadafi.
Según los insurgentes, la rebelión se extendió a la ciudad de Ghadames (600 km al suroeste de TrÃpoli), en la zona fronteriza con Túnez y Argelia.
