La manoseada temática del desarrollo y la ideología del desarrollismo corresponden muy bien a este tipo de posiciones dogmáticas e intransigentes, propias de aquellos que se resisten a ir más del coro de repetidores de algunas consignas, a partir de las cuáles se consigue alejar al grueso de la población del examen y la discusión de los temas y asuntos que de verdad revisten importancia para su vida cotidiana, por no decir que para su mera supervivencia.
La verdad es que estas construcciones o bloques rígidos de pensamiento dogmático, propios de las mentalidades de un puñado de tecnócratas y cortesanos de todo pelaje, se encuentran tan interiorizadas hasta en la mentalidad de algunas gentes del común quienes, incluso de buena fe, se resisten a la materialización de cualquier intento serio de examinar, con alguna libertad y no sin alguna dosis de rigor, los supuestos o referentes teóricos y empíricos del llamado desarrollo, esa línea del horizonte que de manera incauta perseguimos alcanzar para caer, de manera incesante, en nuevas frustraciones cuando constatamos, una vez alcanzado el punto que observábamos a la distancia, que esa línea del horizonte se nos muestra esquiva e inalcanzable.
De esta manera, al igual que el conquistador español Juan Ponce de León, seguimos buscando, a través de las entonces ignotas regiones de La Florida, con todo y su Miami incluido, algo así como una nueva fuente de la eterna juventud, como condición previa a cualquier intento de mirarse en el espejo.

El entonces, por primera vez presidente de Costa Rica, Óscar Arias Sánchez, se permitió decirle a la ciudadanía, durante la segunda mitad de la década de los 1980 que nuestro país se convertiría, gracias a la ejecución sus políticas de corte neoliberal/neoconservador, surgidas de los lineamientos del Consenso de Washington y de los reaccionarios think-tank( no importa si son republicanos o demócratas) del imperio del norte, un evento que de consenso tuvo poco o nada, en el primer país desarrollado de América Latina.

Por cierto que ahora, en el nuevo siglo, este juego se encarga de repetirlo, a pie juntillas, su discípula Laura Chinchilla, quien vuelve a prometernos la Jerusalem (¿Babilonia acaso?) del desarrollo, mientras se prepara a darle el último zarpazo a las principales instituciones nacionales y a la débil institucionalidad democrática del país.
En síntesis, el Estado policial y autoritario se encuentra ya a las puertas en este pequeño país centroamericano impulsado por Chinchilla y su ministro Tijerino, pero sobre todo contando con el apoyo y el aplauso de Hillary Clinton, la Secretaria de Estado del presidente Obama y sus procónsules imperiales, a partir de un manipulador y obsesivo discurso acerca de la seguridad de los habitantes, para cuya difusión cuentan con el decisivo concurso de los medios de incomunicación social. Estemos atentos, no vaya a ser que por estar escuchando, en actitud boquiabierta, los discursos sobre un mítico desarrollo, que nos prometen los personeros del régimen, perdamos las pocas libertades democráticas que aun nos quedan.
