Cientos de porteadores miembros de la Federación Nacional de Porteadores (Fenapo), generaron esta mañana congestión vial en diferentes puntos del paÃs durante la protesta en contra del proyecto de ley gubernamental que regularÃa el porteo, una medida que esos conductores públicos consideran los dejará sin trabajo.
Los porteadores salieron a las calles desde horas de la mañana y decidieron hacer caravanas de tránsito lento, y hasta intentaron bloquear algunas vÃas, pero fueron impedidos por la policÃa.
Posteriormente se concentraron frente a la Casa Presidencial y la Asamblea Legislativa, para exigir una revisión de un proyecto de ley para regular el porteo (transporte privado de personas por choferes que no necesariamente son de la llamada "fuerza roja" de taxistas), que se discute actualmente en el Congreso.
Tras la protesta pacÃfica, los porteadores acordaron reunirse con el ministro de la Presidencia, Marco Vargas, para buscar una solución al problema, aseguró a los medios la presidenta de Fenapo, Yuribeth Méndez. El Gobierno considera a Fenapo como un grupo minoritario dentro del sector del porteadores y aduce que el proyecto no se puede variar pues es un compromiso de varias partes.
Según la Fenapo, unas 12.000 personas se dedican al porteo en el paÃs, pero el proyecto de ley que regulará esta actividad sólo dará permiso de operación a 4.000, por lo que exigen una revisión del texto, que fue redactado en el 2010 luego de un acuerdo entre el Gobierno, los taxistas formales y otros porteadores.
