Hace tan sólo unos minutos brota el anuncio que será dado a conocer de forma oficial este martes en horas de la mañana: Microsoft adquiere Skype por 8.500 millones de dólares, siendo su adquisición más agresiva en el mundo digital.
Las negociaciones fueron mantenidas en secreto, revelándose que también Facebook y Google se mostraron muy interesadas en asociarse a la empresa de telecomunicaciones. Finalmente Microsoft presentó una mejor oferta por la compra de la compañía junto con la deuda que arrastra.
El proceso de compra habría sido liderado por Steve Ballmer, CEO de Microsoft, y ayuda a la corporación a contar con una enorme marca de respaldo detrás, en un ambiente donde se conoce de las pérdidas sustanciales de la compradora en los últimos meses.
La adquisición de Skype podría permitir a Microsoft incrementar la solidez de la plataforma y mejora de sus productos como Messenger y Windows Phone, que actualmente competían muy ligeramente con los productos de Skype.
No se habla aún de la desaparición del servicio actual que brinda Skype, ni consecuencias sobre sus usuarios. Sin embargo las acciones y políticas de la corporación estadounidense podrían suponer cambios en materia de propiedad intelectual.
Del mismo modo, se intuye a su vez un aislamiento o búsqueda de alternativas por parte de los usuarios que políticamente rechazan y resisten a los servicios y productos del coloso estadounidense.
Esta martes por la mañana será anunciada la compra oficial en conferencia de prensa, donde se esclarecerán los términos de compra y probablemente los cambios que se avecinan para los sistemas Microsoft y Skype.
